Association of Student Radio Alumni

(Redirected from ASRA)

The Association of Student Radio, ASRA, is a UK voluntary body set up as an organisation that unites people who have been invovled in student radio. Part social club part industry organistation, ASRA's main role is to organise events that can act as student radio station reunions and to give advice to anyone that wants to build up their own student radio alumni association.

ASRA was started by Nick Wallis in 1998, who was stepping down as Chair of the Student Radio Association but still wanted to be involved in the movement. It now has over 1,000 registered members, a number that grows as student radio develops.

ASRA's website offers student stations the resources to create a weblog, discussion forum and mailing list all for free. The site's aim is to collect lost alumni and then provide them as a resource back to their old student station.

ASRA is run by an informal committee of ex-student radio people who like helping student stations and events where they can drink beer.
