A Whole New Thing

A Whole New Thing was the debut album for Sly & the Family Stone, released by Epic/CBS Records in 1967. While it was released to critical acclaim, it failed to make an impact from a commercial standpoint; neither it nor its single "Underdog" charted. CBS Records executive Clive Davis prevailed upon band leader Sly Stone to create a more commerical album; the result was the hit album Dance to the Music.
