Abakua or Abakuá is an African religion originated in Nigeria and brought to Cuba by African slaves. It is a secret society which only men can join. The primary conditions for joining are: be straight, be a nice son, a nice brother, responsible father and a good husband. Members and followers of Abakua can be found throughout the world. The vast majority are Cubans, though.
