Ahmed Taleb Ibrahimi

Ahmed Taleb Ibrahimi (born 5 January 1932 in Sétif) is an Algerian politician. He was Foreign Minister of Algeria from 1982 to 1988 and served as education minister during the one-party regime, promoting "Arabization". He ran for president in 1999 but withdrew from the race along with all other opposition candidates hours before voting commenced. In 2004, his proposed candidacy was disqualified because of alleged links with the proscribed Islamic Salvation Front (FIS). His platform includes moderate Islamism and adherence to free-market economics.
