Albert Augustus Pope

Pope, Albert Augustus US industrialist (lived 1843 -1909) - sometimes called Colonel Pope - founded a successful cycle manufacturing group in 1879. From 1896 he owned companies manufacturing electric vehicles and - later - petrol cars. By decline of cycle manufacturing, his motor goup was dragged down. Following his death, some companies joined the United States Motor Company. Pope's empire finally collapsed in 1913.
