Amazonas Region

Amazonas is a region in northern Peru. It is bordered on the north by Ecuador; on the west by the Cajamarca Region and Ecuador; on the south by the La Libertad Region; and on the east by the Loreto and San Martín regions. Its capital is the city of Chachapoyas .

Political division

The region is divided into seven provinces (provincias, singular: provincia), which are composed of 83 districts (distritos, singular: distrito). The provinces, with their capitals in parenthesis, are:

  1. Bagua (Bagua )
  2. Bongará (Villa de Jumbilla )
  3. Chachapoyas (Chachapoyas )
  4. Condorcanqui (Santa María de Nieva )
  5. Luya (Lamud )
  6. Rodríguez de Mendoza (Mendoza )
  7. Utcubamba (Bagua Grande )
