An analysand is a person who undergoes psychoanalysis. Such an individual can also be termed a patient, particularly in the medical model of psychoanalysis in its classic mode. Those undergoing psychotherapy are sometimes called, as well, clients, in more recent schools of psychotherapy which eschew the medical model in an attempt to emphasize what they describe as a positive, connotation-free model of those undergoing therapy.
