Anti-Flag

Anti-Flag is a punk rock/hardcore punk band formed in Pittsburgh during 1993, with band members Justin Sane, Pat Thetic, and Andy Flag . In 1994, they signed to the New Red Archives label for their first album, Die for the Government, releasing it on September 12, 1995. In 1996-1997, they started their own punk rock record label called A-F Records, where they also released a few albums.

Anti-Flag's music is comprised of a vast array of left-wing political ideals, and takes a strong stand against fascism and nationalism. Politically, Anti-Flag is comparable to LA's leftist Rage Against The Machine.

Though Anti-Flag is controversial in the United States because of their political stances, they are very popular in Germany, Canada (Montreal especially) and other countries among anti-nationalist segments of the population.

On October 8, 2004, U.S. Representative Jim McDermott gave a speech in the House of Representatives, praising Anti-Flag for working to encourage young people to register and vote. [1]
