Arcane Background is an Edge (positive character trait) in the Deadlands RPG which means the character has undertaken training to unlock mystical powers. There are several Arcane Backgrounds available in Weird West and Hell on Earth, as well as numerous fan-created ones. Arcane Backgrounds consist of:

Many of HoE's Arcane Backgrounds are variants of Weird West Arcane Backgrounds, but the originals are available in HoE and work at full strength whilst HoE Backgrounds used in the past (this usually involves time-travel) are severely limited.
