Dr. Armen Sarkissian was the prime minister of Armenia from 1996-1997. Previously, he had been Armenia's ambassador in London, having been a faculty member at the University of Cambridge when Armenia became the first country to gain independence from the former Soviet Union.

He was also the co-inventor of the Tetris computer game.
