Artworx

Artworx is a Naples, Florida company that has been producing poker and other card games since circa 1982. Its original poker game, supposedly the first game of its kind ever created for home computers, was ported to numerous platforms, including the Apple II (1982, Commodore 64 (1983), Atari 800 (1983), DOS (1985), Amiga (1986), and Atari ST (1987). The computer opponents were notable for their expert artificial intelligence and witty comments (e.g. "Were you chasing a rainbow?"). Data disks were available that offered additional opponents; these disks have become very hard to find. Artworx's first poker game was followed by several sequels.

Some other Artworx titles are Bridge 8.0 and King of Solitaire, although these haven't sold as well as the poker games.
