Avelgem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Avelgem proper, Bossuit , Kerkhove , Outrijve and Waarmaarde . On January 1st, 2004 Avelgem had a total population of 9,261 (4,559 males and 4,702 females). The total area is 21.75 km² which gives a population density of 425.83 inhabitants per km².
