Balto (movie)

Balto is an animated film produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblimation animation studio, distributed by Universal Pictures, and originally released in movie theatres by 1995. It had two made-for-video sequels: Balto: Wolf Quest (2002), and Balto: Wings of Change (2005).

This film was based on a true story. It is a fictionalization of the historic Balto, who was the lead sled dog during the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome (or "Great Race of Mercy"), which relayed diphtheria antitoxin by dog sled across the U.S. territory of Alaska.
