The Battle of Ogdensburg was a small battle that saw the British gain a decisive victory over the Americans. In this battle the British would capture the village of Ogdensburg.
Governer-General Prevost still wanted a quick, small war with the U.S. and he thought a raid in Ogdensburg will get the Americans attention and cause a swift battle to gain an edge-he did that successfully.
After eating his breakfast, Prevost frequently heared threatning warnings from the Americans that they will never undertake such offensives in Ogdensburg. Soon after, he assembled his troops and supplies and marched towards Ogdensburg. The battle will be short because of the barren winter of 1812.
