Bernard Manning

Bernard Manning is a famously politically incorrect British comedian who was popular in the 1970s. His material has been criticised as being both racist and sexist and he has not been seen on British television for several years. He still tours however, and draws sizable audiences.

Despite denying accusations of racism, he accepted an invitation to perform at an event in 2003 organised by the British National Party. He later cancelled his appearance.

He owns and performs at a club (The Embassy) in Harpurhey, a suburb of Manchester- though he rarely makes an appearance now.

He has appeared on the spoof documentary Brass Eye, and genuine documentaries about alternative comedy and variety. In 2004, he visited India and performed in two shows for a Channel 4 documentary. The first show went reasonably well, although during the second show he walked off during the performance after an indifferent audience response, blaming a faulty microphone.
