Blonde on Blonde

Blonde on Blonde was also the name of a 1980s UK girl pop group: see Blonde on Blonde (girl group).

Blonde on Blonde is a folk rock album by Bob Dylan, generally believed to be the rock and roll genre's first double album. Recorded in Nashville, it was produced by Bob Johnston and was released on May 16, 1966 (see 1966 in music) The album was a critical and commercial success, though folk music purists continued to protest Dylan's fusion of folk with rock and roll. Blonde on Blonde, Dylan's third album-length mixture of the two genres (after Highway 61 Revisited and Bringing It All Back Home), is widely considered the best of his rock-oriented efforts.

Blonde on Blonde peaked at #9 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America).

In 1997 Blonde on Blonde was named the 16th greatest album of all time in a 'Music of the Millennium' poll conducted by HMV, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM. In 1998 Q magazine readers placed it at number 47, while in 2003 the TV network VH1 placed it at number 9.

The album's title was referenced by Texas's album White on Blonde.
