Bob Russell

Robert Edward Russell (born 31 March 1946) is a British politician known to his constituents as "Bob". He has been Liberal Democrat member of Parliament for Colchester since 1997 (re-elected 2001). He is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman on Sport and a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee

Bob was previously a member of the SDP and the Labour Party. As a member of the Labour Party, Bob ran unsuccessfully for Parliament in 1979. Before becoming an MP, he was a councillor for over twenty years, initially for the Labour Party, then for the SDP and the Liberal Democrats.
