Boliviano

The boliviano (ISO 4217 code: BOB) is the currency of Bolivia. It is divided into 100 centavos.

Prior to the introduction of the boliviano in 1990, the currency was the Bolivian peso (ISO 4217: BOP). Following long years of rampant inflation, the swap from pesos to bolivianos took place at a ratio of one million to one.

In circulation

The coins currently in circulation are worth 10, 20, 50 cents; 1, 2, 5 bolivianos.

The banknotes currently in circulation are worth 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 boliviano.

As of January, 2005 the exchange rate was 1 USD = 8.06 bolivianos.
