Caherdaniel

Caherdaniel (Cathair Dónall in Irish) is a village in County Kerry, Ireland.

Geography

Caherdaniel is located on the Iveragh peninsula on the Ring of Kerry. It is situated on the southwestern side of the peninsula on the N70 Road facing onto Derryname Bay. A stone fort or (caher) is located nearby.

History

Copper ore was mined in the area, the first mines dating back to around 2000 BC.

Derrynane House, home of Daniel O'Connell, is located nearby.
