Caloric theory

The Caloric theory of heat stated that heat was a fluid ("caloric") that could be transferred from one object to another but not created or destroyed.

Compare it to the phlogiston theory.

In modern times this theory has been replaced with the theory of heat as kinetic energy of molecules.
