The Casa Rosada ("Pink House"), officially known as the Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace), is the official residence of the President of Argentina.
The Casa Rosada has been, since the foundation of the city of Buenos Aires, where the top political institutions of Argentina were located. The current building, however, dates back only to 1873. It stands next to the Plaza de Mayo. The building is painted a light pink color (and a darker pink color on the side facing the plaza, due to a recent repainting). The original paint was said to have contained cow blood to prevent damage from humidity.
