Charles Madigan

Charles Madigan is an editor, journalist and columnist in Chicago, Illinois.

Associated with the Chicago Tribune since 1979, he is currently the Sunday Perspective editor and senior correspondent, and has been the paper's national editor, Washington news editor, projects editor, Atlanta correspondent, national correspondent and was the paper's first senior writer. Earlier, he worked for United Press International (UPI) for nine years including two and a half years as correspondent from the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

He was also executive editor of Britannica.com and has co-authored and collaborated on several books. He is the editor of Global Chicago and is currently writing a book about his family's history in the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania.
