Clackmannanshire is one of 32 unitary council regions in Scotland, and a Lieutenancy Area, bordering onto the areas of Perth and Kinross, Stirling and Fife. It is the smallest unitary council region in Scotland. Main industries: agriculture, brewing, and formerly coal mining.

It is also a traditional county of Scotland, bordering on Kinross-shire, Perthshire and Stirlingshire. As Scotland's smallest historic county, it is often nicknamed "The Wee County".

N.b. The image of the traditional county inaccurately shows a detached part of Stirlingshire that lies locally in Clackmannanshire as being part of Clackmannanshire. It also shows this county bordering onto Fife when it fact its southern boundary borders with a detached part of Perthshire that lies locally in Fife.
