Claro toolkit

(Redirected from Claro)

The Claro toolkit is a set of cross-platform libraries which aims to allow programmers to write applications for almost any operating system without needing to modify the code for each new platform. It is being developed in parallel with the Bersirc project, as a response to outcry over their previous planned use of the Qt toolkit.

In contrast to projects such as the Qt toolkit or GTK, which operate via their own set of widgets, Claro aims to provide an interface to the native windowing system. This means programs developed with this toolkit would have an interface harmonic with native applications on the same operating system. Such an application would also have a smaller filesize, because it would not be necessary to store graphical data for the application's widgets.

As of October 27, 2004, Claro is in the alpha version/development stage. Early builds can be obtained via CVS, with instructions found on the main site.
