Corporal Snark

Corporal Snark is a fictional character in Joseph Heller's novel Catch-22. Corporal Snark was originally the mess sergeant. To prove that the soldiers had bad taste, he poisoned their mashed potatoes with soap chips, causing a diarrhea outbreak. Because of this, he was demoted and replaced by Milo Minderbinder. Snark felt he proved himself correct because the men ate the soap and came back for seconds.
