The Croydon Advertiser is a weekly newspaper covering the London Borough of Croydon, South London and surrounding areas.
The Croydon Advertiser Series is Croydon's major paid-for weekly newspaper. It was founded in 1865 and its 1895 offices occupied an important position on Croydon's High Street. It recorded many important events in the town's history, from its development to the history of the Salvation Army and the work of local son Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. It has been the largest circulation local weekly in the country.
Today the paper is a broad-sheet weekly, currently costing 35p, concentrating on local news and sport, "What's on" and "Where to go", jobs, property. The Advertiser is on sale every Friday in five distinct geographical editions: Croydon; Sutton & Epsom; Coulsdon & Purley; New Addington; and Caterham . Each edition has local pages that concentrate on local news and information agenda from that specific area.
The Croydon Advertiser Series is now part of the Trinity Mirror Group, which also owns the Daily Mirror and is the largest newspaper publisher in the United Kingdom.
