David Saul Marshall

David Saul Marshall (1908-1995) was the leader of the Progressive Action Party who became the first Chief Minister of Singapore in 1955. He resigned in 1956, feeling that the British colonial rulers were ignoring his ideas in the runup to independence. He later served as Singapore's ambassador to France.
