Der Rosenkavalier

Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose) is a comic opera in three acts.

Premiere: Hofoper, Dresden on 26th January 1911
Setting: Mid-eighteenth century Vienna, in the first years of the reign of the Empress Maria Theresa

  • A notary (Bass)
  • An inn-keeper (Tenor)
  • An Italian singer (Tenor)
  • A milliner (Soprano)
  • An animal vendor (Tenor)
  • Three noble orphans (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto)
  • Four footmen to the Marschallin (2 Tenor, 2 Bass)
  • Four waiters (1 Tenor, 3 Bass)
