Desert Rock is a term given to several bands that hail from the California desert. Many times, these bands are labeled stoner metal. However, the bands out of the desert sometimes have heavy Latin influences and/or repetitive drum beats, and psychedelia. Another sub-genre of desert rock is robot rock, a phrase coined by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age.
