Devorguilla Balliol

Devorguilla of Galloway (c.1210-January 28, 1290) was the daughter of Lord Alan of Galloway and Margaret of Huntingdon. Through her mother, she was a descendent of the Scottish king David I.

She married John, 5th Baron de Balliol and her son John Balliol was king of Scotland for four years. Devorguilla endowed a college for the poor which later became Balliol College. She is interred at Sweetheart Abbey beside her husband.
