Dirty Three)
The Dirty Three is an instrumental rock band, formed in 1993, in Melbourne, Australia. Members are Warren Ellis (violin), Mick Turner (guitar/accordian), and Jim White (drums). The Dirty Three has toured with Sonic Youth, Pavement, Cat Power, and Shannon Wright.
Their early albums offered many aggressive, ferociously emotional songs, but recent works have found The Dirty Three shifting their focus; one song "experiments with overlapping violin tracks and ends up sounding more like a chamber work by Steve Reich than the Dirty Three."[1]
Warren Ellis is also a full-time member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds since 1996. Mick Turner performs also solo, produces art which has been exhibited in Italy and New York, and runs the band's own record label Anchor & Hope.
