Drago

The Dragon Tree is native to the Canary Islands. It is quite an unusual tree, because it forms no annual rings, therefore, it is very hard to determine its age. It looks like a tree with very thick branches that leads to cactus-like leaves on the top. When cut, it exudes a reddish sap once believed to have magical and medicinal properties. They are thought to be thousands of years old. The oldest one resides in Icod de los Vinos.

The Canary Islands dragon tree , Dracaena draco (see Dracaena).
