Eiger Dreams: Ventures Among Men and Mountains

Eiger Dreams: Ventures Among Men and Mountains is a non-fiction short story collection by Jon Krakauer published in 1990 by Doubleday.

It is a collection of stories about mountaneering and rock climbing which have been published before separately between 1985 and 1987 in the magazines Outdoors and Smithsonian.

The stories describe a variety of topics, from ascending the Eiger Nordwand in the Alps, the Mount McKinley in Alaska or the K2 in the Karakoram to the impressive or famed rock climbers Jon Krakauer met on his trips, like John Gill or the Burgess brothers, Adrian and Alan . He also decribes a variety of extreme rock-climbing variants, like canyoneering or climbing frozen waterfalls.
