The Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems or EOLSS is an interdisciplinary encyclopedia, sponsored by UNESCO but not free. It was inspired by the sustainable development movement.
The EOLSS defines: "A life support system is any natural or human-engineered (constructed or made ) system that furthers the life of the biosphere in a sustainable fashion."
