Etymotic Research

Etymotic Research, based in Illinois, USA, was founded in 1983 by Mead Killion. Etymotic is a research, development and manufacturing company that designs and manufactures products to measure, improve, and protect hearing. The name "Etymotic" (pronounced "et-im-OH-tik") means "true to the ear". Although most of their products are aimed at professionals, they do have a highly successful line of in-ear "canalphones" for consumers, the most well-known of which being their low-end ER-6 Isolator earphones. Catering the need of tremendous iPod users, Etymotic has been selling their ER6i Isolator earphones. This is considered an improvement over ER-6, especially for portable audio players, considering its lower impedance. Etymotic also has lines of headphones, hearing aids, and microphones.
