F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault and Recon) is a first-person shooter computer game developed by Monolith Productions. It will be published by Vivendi Universal and is anticipated to be released on March 1, 2005 for the PC.

Story

"The story begins as an unidentified paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound. The government responds by sending in Special Forces, but loses contact as an eerie signal interrupts radio communications. When the interference subsides moments later, the team has been literally torn apart. As part of a classified strike team created to deal with threats no one else can handle, your mission is simple: Eliminate the intruders at any cost. Determine the origin of the signal. And contain this crisis before it spirals out of control." - Press Release

It is unknown exactly what all the features of the game will be however featured in a demo video at was the use of bullet-time, an effect in which a player can slow down time. Bullet-time was made popular by The Matrix trilogy and the Max Payne series of games.

The games horror element also includes allusions to movies such as The Ring and other classic horror games like Silent Hill and Doom in that FEAR uses the idea of a terrifying little girl, and the overall first person perspective scare tactics.
