Fontenay-aux-Roses is a city and commune in France, in the southern suburbs of Paris.

The commune name originates from a local stream to the hillside from the Châtillon plateau. The final part of the name originates from a plant called the rose which was common between the 12th and the 19th centuries. The attraction of roses that it created a borough named Rosati which existed from 1892 to 1992.
