Forward Bloc (Ruikar)

(Redirected from Forward Bloc (Ruiker))

In 1948 the recently reorganized All India Forward Bloc split into two factions, which came to function as separate parties. The group led by Ramchandra Sakharam Ruikar had its emphasis on nationalism rather than Marxism. On December 29-31 the Ruikar faction held a congress in Ashutosh College Hall, Calcutta. Ruikar was elected General Secretary. At the same time the Marxist faction held a congress in Hooghly.

The Ruikar party used a Indian tricolour with a leaping tiger as their flag.

The party gradually disintegrated.
