François Bourgeon

François Bourgeon (b. 1945 Paris) is a French graphic artist, creator of some of the most well-respected European comic books. His work is generally historical fiction, with frequent supernatural elements, and strong adult themes of violence and sexuality. He is a thorough researcher and his drawings –- of 17th-century ships, for example, or 14th-century clothing -- have a reputation for historical accuracy. He lives in Cornouaille in Brittany, and many of his stories draw on Breton settings or mythology.

He is most famous for three epic series - The Passengers of the Wind (5 volumes), The Twilight Companions (3 volumes), and most recently The Cyann Cycle (3 volumes).
