Frankish Alb

The Frankish Alb (German Fränkische Alb) is a mountain chain in Bavaria, Germany. It is up to 600 m high and located between the Danube in the south and the Main in the north.

Large portions of the Frankish Alb are part of the Altmühl Valley Nature Park. The meanders and gorges formed by the Altmühl River are the reason for many tourists to visit the region.

Geologically the Frankish Alb is the eastern continuation of the Swabian Alb. The mountain chains are separated from each other by the crater of the Nördlinger Ries.
