George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle

George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle (17 September 1773 - 7 October 1848) was an English statesman. He was First Commissioner of Woods and Forests and later Lord Privy Seal in the Tory governments of Canning and Goderich. He split with the Tories over reform and was later Lord Privy Seal in Lord Grey's government (1834). He was made a Knight of the Garter in 1837 and died in 1848.
