Greek salad (Greek χωριάτικη (choriatiki), meaning villager's/peasant's salad) is a common salad characterized by its ingredients of Mediterranean (and particularly Greek) origin. Common ingredients that characterize a Greek salad include olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and green peppers. The dressing is usually made from olive oil, lemon, and/or vinegar. The final touch is usually a bit of dried oregano. It should be noted that lettuce is not used in a traditional greek salad. It is common to dip bread in the dressing/tomato juice mix when table manners are relaxed.
