Guntram

Guntram I(c.545 - 592) was a king of Burgundy. He was a son of Clotaire I, on whose death (561) he became king of a fourth of the kingdom of the Franks, and made his capital at Orléans. He fought against the barbarians who menaced the kingdom. He also tried to reconcile his two brothers Sigebert I and Chilperic I.

On the death of Chilperic I, Guntram was called by Fredegund to protect her and her son Clotaire II. He then recovered the kingdom of Paris. In 587, he adopted Childebert II, son of Sigebert I and Brunhilda. He died without an heir at Chalon-sur-Saône in 592, and his kingdom passed to Childebert II.
