Heašolaf

Heašolaf (Proto-Norse *Hažulaibaz [1]) was a member of a Scandinavian clan named the Wulfings, which according to the Norse sagas ruled the Geatish petty kingdom of Ostrogothia.

All that is known of Heašolaf is that he was slain by Ecgžeow, the father of Beowulf. Apparently, his powerful family demanded too high a weregild from the Ecgžeow's clan, the Węgmundings, so Ecgžeow was banished and had to seek refuge with the Danes. The Danish king Hrošgar payed the weregild and the matter was settled.
