Helen Patricia Sharman (born May 30, 1963), is a British astronaut. She was the first Briton in space, and the first non-Soviet, non-American woman in space in 1991.

Sharman was born in Sheffield. Single, no children. Selected as astronaut on November 25, 1989. Retired on May 26, 1991.

Flew as Research Cosmonaut on Soyuz TM-12.
