Humphrey T. Walwyn

Sir Humphrey Thomas Walwyn (January 25, 1879 - December 29, 1957) served most of his life in the Royal Navy rising to the position of Vice-Admiral of the Royal Indian Navy retiring in 1934. He was educated at Dartmouth College and joined the Royal Navy in 1895.

From 1936 to 1946, he was governor of Newfoundland and chairman of the Commission of Government. During World War II he was active in encouraging Newfoundlanders to join the war effort. In 1946, he retired to Dorset, England.
