Commissioner Jack Cable


The Honourable I.J. Jack Cable (Born: August 17, 1934-) is a Canadian politician and the current Commissioner of the Yukon. He has been Commissioner since October 1, 2000.

He practiced law in Whitehorse for 21 years. He was a MLA serving two terms from October 1992 until he decided not to seek re-election in April 2000. As a public servant, he has been director of the Northern Canada Power Commission , a founding member of Recycle Organics Together Society , director of Yukon Science Institute , a member of the Advisory Committee of the Salvation Army Adult Residential Centre and president of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce .

He is also a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of the Yukon , the Association of Professional Engineers of the Yukon and founding member of Boreal Alternate Energy Centre .

He holds a degree in chemical engineering from University of Toronto, an MBA from McMaster University and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Western Ontario.
