Jeremiah Birnbaum

Jeremiah Birnbaum( , ,0000 - , ,0000 ) was ....

An award winning songwriter and East Village mainstay, Jeremiah Birnbaum's confessional jazzy blues-rock and soulful guitar work has earned him comparisons to an Exile-era Mick Jagger with elements of Johnny Cash, Jimi, Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Jim Croce, and CSNY.

Lauded for his “intelligent, poetic lyrics” and “scrumptious, soul-filled EP Dawn” (Cincinnati City Beat), Jeremiah Birnbaum has emerged as a steady figure on the New York scene with his eclectic and exciting shows.

He's received praise from many sources, including Indianapolis' NuvoWeekly, Brooklyn’s RadioCrystalBlue.com and HarrisRadio.com, and Chuck Eddy, Music Editor of the Village Voice.
Jeremiah is a 2004-2005 ASCAPLUS Popular Music Award recipient, was a 2004 Newport Folk Festival pre-finalist, and showcased at many major music festivals in 2003 and 2004, touring through many major cities in North America.
Jeremiah is also a vibrant and active advocate for new music and emerging artists in New York, hosting one of Manhattan's most popular open stages, ‘Fire and Voice’, at Micky’s Blue Room in the East Village every Sunday evening.
He recently began co-hosting 'WhiskeyBreath', a weekly songwriter's showcase and artist's hangout at Laila Lounge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (http://www.lailalounge.com/whiskey.html) with fellow travelers, friends, and musical cohorts Alex Lowry, Liz Clark, and Rick Royale.
Both events are cornerstones of the burgeoning New York songwriting scene. Recently, Jeremiah was selected from hundreds of artists to audition for INXS, advanced to the final rounds of the OriginalSessions & Jagermusic NYC/NJ Buzz Band Search 2005, and is featured as a Spotlight Artist on Sonicbids.com.
