Jerry W. Kilgore, a Republican, is a former attorney general of Virginia and a 2005 gubernatorial candidate. He was born August 23, 1961 in Kingsport, Tennessee, USA. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1986 and the University of Virginia's College at Wise. During the final years of the Reagan Administration, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. He was Secretary of Public Safety under Governor George F. Allen from 1994-1998. He is the twin brother of Virginia State Delegate Terry G. Kilgore of Gate City, Scott County, Virginia. He is the 2005 Republican candidate for Governor of Virginia against Lt. Governor Timothy M. Kaine. He is also running against independent Republican Russ Potts. Kilgore may also have a primary challenge from mayor of Warrenton, VA, George Fitch.
