Jiuquan (酒泉) is a city with several hundredthousand inhabitants in the western part of the Chinese province Gansu. The city is appropriate about 1500 for m over the sea level. Some representatives of minorities live in Jiuquan, which have partly a connection with the nearby Xinjiang.

In the proximity of Jiuquan at , there is a rocket launching site where the first manned Chinese space flight was launched in October 2003.
